The Library will hold three events, two sessions each on the afternoons where the public school dismisses school early.
Second is in April, the library will collaborate with the Loft Literary Center on two creative writing workshops. In Fairy Tales and Dinosaurs (K-3rd grade), kids will explore the basics of storytelling through the lens of fairy tales and stories about favorite pets, real and imagined: from dogs to dinosaurs. In Writing the Stories You Want to Read (4th - 6th grade), young writers and avid readers will learn from an experienced writer how to generate story ideas, create compelling characters, and craft exciting scenes. This class will be generative: students will read, write, and create together and share what they have written with peers in the classroom. The focus of this class will be learning the basic craft elements of storytelling.
This event is made possible by a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative and was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
