Lunch and a Bite of History is a weeklong series of presentations focused on historical research related to the US-Dakota war of 1862. All presentations will be about 40 minutes with a 15-minute Q&A session to follow. Some presenters will conclude a book signing session.
Anne Earl and Bob Burgess of the Brown County Historical Society will discuss the Brown County Historical Society's depredation claims project. Depredation claims were filed by many survivors after the Dakota War, and many were recently unearthed from the National Archives in Washington, DC. Earl and Burgess will discuss not only the process of bringing the claims to New Ulm but the significance of the information contained in the claims.
