How Do I Place a Hold?
The easiest method to begin placing holds is to first logon to your account from the online catalog homepage (click here for Catalog). In the upper right hand corner, type the fourteen digit barcode (no spaces) from your library card into the box labeled Library Card Number. Then click (do not press <enter>) to move to the Password box below. Type your password into the box and then press <Enter> and click <Log on to My Account>. (Tip: Your password is usually 8 to 10 characters of your last name.) You are now logged on, even though the screen doesn’t give any confirmation.
Enter search words into the quick search box, and click the <Search> button or press <Enter>. When you find a title you would like to place on hold, click the <Place Hold> button or the Place Hold link to the left of the item.
If you have already logged on to your account, you’ll see a box to select a pickup location (not TdS Headquarters). Select your preferred location for pickup, and click the <Place Hold> button or press <Enter> to complete the transaction. You’ll get a confirmation message that your hold was placed. Click OK to return to your search screen.

Depending upon the number of copies available in the region, the number of holds on the title, and the courier delivery schedule, you can expect to the material to be available at your pickup library within two days to three weeks. If you have not received notification that your hold is available within three weeks, contact your local librarian. Items that have been received at the pickup location will remain available to you for pickup for 10 calendar days.
